Remembrance Sunday parade 13th November 2022 - change of route
The Remembrance Sunday Parade will be held on the 13th November, and in 2022 will commence at the Changing Rooms, Eyes Meadow at 10:30am. (meet up at the Changing Rooms from 10am).
The parade will proceed along the road through Eyes Meadow and along Donald Hawley Way, to the War Memorial outside St Alkmund's Parish Church, where a short Service of Remembrance will be held starting at around 10:50am and finishing around 11:15am.
Church Drive and Donald Hawley Way will remain closed to traffic between approx. 10am and 11:30am (or when it is safe for the roads to reopen). Please use the pedestrian entrance along Cockpit Lane (footpath alongside Appletree Medical Practice) to access the meadow at this time.
A note about the route change: The route has been changed for this year as it was becoming impossible for the Parish Council to safely close all the various roads involved along the usual Town Street route, without support. This is a trial of a new route that is both safer for the young people involved, and more straightforward for us to 'police' the road closure (especially in light of the loss of Jane Terry, our Parish Clerk, in August). No decisions have been taken about the route for future years at this stage. Please be supportive of the Scouts, Guides and other organisations taking part and join us at Eyes Meadow, watch the Parade go by and follow along Donald Hawley Way.
