Vacancy: Responsible Financial Officer (Part time - 8 h/w) closing date 4/11/20
A vacancy has arisen for a Responsible Finance Officer.
Duffield Parish Council needs a driven and enthusiastic Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to come and share their vision, drive and leadership. Working from the Parish Council's offices at Cemetery Lodge, Hazelwood Road, Duffield, this role will provide the Council with a top-quality finance service.
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day financial management of the Council, including data inputting, monitoring and producing Management Accounts, preparing records for audit purposes and VAT, Debtor and Creditor ledgers, the budget setting process, preparing reports to present to the Council, raising and payment of invoices, payroll and pension administration including year-end and HMRC returns. The RFO will carry out all the statutory functions ensuring the implementation of, and compliance with the Council's financial regulations. They will work closely with the Clerk advising councillors on finance matters, insurance and risk management strategy.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to use financial packages with training given on the Council's accounts package.
Local government/parish or town Council experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided. Excellent computer skills are essential.
The RFO will be required to work 8 hours a week from the Parish Office. These hours include attending some of the Council's evening meetings. Additional hours may be required at End of Year.
The successful candidate should have:
- Either, a relevant financial qualification and excellent analytical skills or substantial experience in a similar role
- good organisation, interpersonal and computer skills
- be familiar with local government procedures and finance
Essential training will be provided as appropriate and remuneration will be based on experience, but within the LC2 SCP range 18-23 (currently £12.98-£14.42 per hour, 2020-2021 National Salary Award)
