New Woodland Seating at Eyes Meadow
Sets of woodland seating have now been installed at Eyes Meadow. There is a large set of 18 seats so that groups or classes can all sit in a big circle, and three sets of six near to the changing rooms. They are there for everyone to sit, relax and enjoy the meadow.
There was some delay since the original idea was proposed by Cllr. Steven Evanson, caused by the damage to the bridge and the resurfacing of the car park, but they were worth waiting for.
Each seat has been hand-made by the Bolsover Woodlands Enterprise. This is a social enterprise that protects and manages woodlands in Derbyshire and the surrounding area. All the team members have learning disabilities and have earned an excellent reputation for the quality of their conservation work. You can see their work at Eyes Meadow. Each seat has been hand-made from yew tree stumps with a perfectly fitting top made to fit the natural shape of the log. The team came to the meadow over two days last week to dig the holes and securely concrete the seats in place.
Duffield Parish Council hope that many people will enjoy the facility for many years to come.
